HALCO kicked off Fairtrade Fortnight in style with a fruity challenge for the HALCO team!
Teams were picked, giant inflatable bananas were purchased, limes were rolling and hook and loop start/finish lines were applied to the carpet in the office. The stage was set for the Great HALCO Fruit Challenge.
With a hook & loop strap tied around the waist and a dangling banana, participants had to knock a lime along the office floor in a relay style race. A victorious Team Orange swept their lime to victory with a flourish and the celebrations began! One participant commented, "The race was bananas, but we pipped the other team to the finish and I think overall it was a fruitful charity event!"
What is Fairtrade Fortnight?
For two weeks each year, thousands of individuals, companies and groups across the UK come together to celebrate the people who grow our food, people who live in some of the poorest countries in the world and who are often exploited and badly paid.
Fairtrade is a simple way to make a difference to the lives of the people who grow the things we love. We do this by making trade fair.
Fairtrade is unique. We work with businesses, consumers and campaigners. Farmers and workers have an equal say in everything we do. Empowerment is at the core of who we are. We have a vision: a world in which all producers can enjoy secure and sustainable livelihoods, fulfill their potential and decide on their future. Our mission is to connect disadvantaged farmers and workers with consumers, promote fairer trading conditions and empower farmers and workers to combat poverty, strengthen their position and take more control over their lives.
